Mental Health Awareness

How do you feel about your mental health? Are you really in Tune with who you are and the way you feel?

people struggling with their mental health could be in your everyday lives, in your family, your children, etc.

what is a mental illness ? - physical illness of the brain that causes disturbances in thinking, behavior, energy or emotion that makes it diff to cope with the demands of ordinary life.

Two of the most common mental conditions are: Anxiety disorders and mood disorders.

Anxiety disorders - include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) panic disorder and certain phobias.

Mood disorders - such as depression and bipolar depression, affect nearly 10% of adults each year.

What can you do to help?!

• show individuals respect and acceptance - having people see you as an individual and not as your illness can make the biggest difference for someone who is struggling with their mental health.

• advocating within our circles such as your community, school, church, or fellow friendship circle.

• learning more about mental health - take the time out to do your research. It allows us to provide helpful support to those affected in our families and communities.
